Branch Report for October 2012
Diary Dates:
21st December Branch Christmas Party at Heart of England Club
26th December Boxing Day gathering at Hoar Park Craft Centre - 10am
29th September - Southam 60’s Revival Show - 14 Triumphs and 1 TriBSA from Meriden Brach displayed at this show, along with about 6 other classic bikes.
The main street was closed for the day allowing 60’s themed stalls and displays to be set up in the street. Classic cars of the time and them pesky Mods, about 40 scooters, parked up and displayed across the street from us (Not advisable all those years ago)
People dressed up in 60’s style clothing and 2 bands played music of the time. The second band "Jolly Roger" were good listen, with Kinks, Stones, Beatles etc. etc. (Sorry Kaz, No Zepp) entertaining the crowd on a family day out in sunny Southam.

30th September - Royal Leamington Spa Classic/ Vintage/ Retro Show - 9 Triumphs and 1 Royal Enfield met up to ride into this show, based around the bandstand in the Pump Room Gardens.
Cars, vans, hot hatchbacks and more bikes made up the show just off the main street in Leamington Spa. Reg from Royal Leamington won a trophy for oldest bike, his tidy tiger cub (1967 I think) Another good day out on a dry, sunny, busy weekend.

6th October - Ride to the Wall (RTTW 5) - A very poignant day out - makes one feel very humble having a video link played from serving soldiers in Afghanistan saying to us bikers "thanks for all we’re doing supporting them!"
14th October - It was a beautiful sunny day for a ride out to visit a lovely couple, John & Sonia Young, who made us most welcome. Thank you to John for sharing his collection of bikes and memorabilia with us and thank you to Sonia for a lovely lunch. It’s nice to know that there are still some genuine and lovely people still left in this world!
14th October we joined the local VMCC Section for their annual Autumn run to Bidford on Avon. This run is held in memory of the late Jim Fellows who was one of those priceless characters in any club who’d look out for new members, find out their areas of interest, and introduce them to likeminded existing members to make sure they’re not left out, sitting in a corner. Jim also used to organise this run every year. The weather was surprisingly warm with blue skies and sunshine and we had 23 bikes at the start, with a large contingent of Triumphs ranging from the latest models back into the fifties. The route comprised of pleasant Warwickshire lanes and back roads through wooded hills with long swinging bends and then descending into the Avon valley down into the Vale of Evesham. We ended up in the Bidford Gliding Club at Bickmarsh where we were made very welcome in the comfortable café. Later there was even an impromptu flying display from a Pitt Special which had managed to take off from the waterlogged grass airstrip. Altogether a great day out. By Peter Mahony
21st October - Our annual autumn ride to Klondyke Steam Rally, Draycott in the Clay
After a dodgy start (Keith led the ride off earlier than expected) everyone finally arrived through the foggy lanes to the steam rally but thankfully the sun broke through eventually and after a good look round and some tea and bacon butties it was a pleasant ride home.
27th & 28th October - I attended 2 Poppy Appeal Launches at Coventry and Birmingham respectively. Black Beauty does look good with his poppy on!!
Finally, a warm welcome to our new members:
Simon Dudfield, Gresham Kidby,
Caroline Bluck, David Bluck, John Manners,
Leonard Taylor, Michael Upton
and Jonathan Whitehead
