Meriden Branch Report November 2014

On 19th October, 10 bikes assembled at the H.O.E. It was bright and breezy for our last run of the year. John Stonnard joined us at the Gate PH and then led the way, avoiding all the road works around Tamworth! We arrived at Draycott-in-the-clay to a long traffic queue just in time to see the air ambulance taking off; we filtered past and entered the steam rally. Once parked  we wandered round looking at the regular display of traction engines, vintage cars & bikes and people trying to sell old rubbish from their cars. There were a few stationary engines pumping water from one bucket to another? These seem to be operated by gentlemen in strange hats who relish being covered in coal dust, (while wearing white shirts?).   Steve

On the 14-16th November we shared a stand with Birmingham and Wolves at the Classic Motor Show. We had seven bikes displayed, and our sectioned T120 engine. B&W displayed a similar number.

We sold most of our old stock of T- shirts and regalia and signed up a good number of new members. Enthusiasts were there from far and wide, we spoke to Europeans, Americans and Australians.

Much interest was shown in the bikes and the sectioned engine; some even used it to impart knowledge to their offspring.

Derek sold his '71 Bonnie which he said was a ‘lovely bike, but too tall for his little legs’!

We had a jolly good show, thanks to Allen Broad and our Denis for bringing it all together.
