Meriden Branch Report August 2021

Our AGM was attended by about 30 members. The major item was Steve Bradwick stepping down as chairman and Dennis O’Neil being elected unopposed on to the committee as his replacement. We all thanked Steve for his contribution over the past few years. We are all sure that Dennis will also fill the role successfully.  The N.E.C. show was discussed along with other ‘bits and pieces’

Our annual ‘Bring it home’ rally weekend was well attended especially considering the Covid situation at the time. The Saturday ride out, ably led as usual by Keith Snell with Steve Malin as ‘tail gunner’, saw 20 Triumphs do a round trip of about 70 miles with a stop off at the popular Gilks Garage Cafe in Kineton for refreshments. Luckily the weather was dry. Keith thanks all those who took part in this well liked event. The Friday evening quiz was a success. Thanks to Shirley and her helpers. The band who played on Saturday evening ‘went down well’. The rally raised over £860 for our funds with the raffle contributing £276! Several trophies, which were made, once again by Ian Ellis, were awarded to rally attendees.

Our display area at the N.E.C. Classic Vehicle Show has been confirmed. So we now need bikes to fill the space. Wrist bands will be available to those exhibiting. Please let us know a.s.a.p. which bike(s) you are offering for display.

A popular branch member, Gerald ‘Welsh Gerry’ Michaels, passed away recently aged 90. A real character, he only gave up riding his sports bike about 2 years ago! His funeral was attended by about 18 members who lined the crematorium driveway with their bikes. We welcome back Peter Brown who has rejoined the branch.

We meet at the club every Monday evening at about 8.00pm. Always good to see new and prospective members there.
