Meriden Branch Report June 2013

June was a good month with a number of outings.

2nd  June Draycott in the Clay  Steam party North Staffs

Twelve riders and 4 pillion passengers,Lynne, beryl,Carol and young Elliott made this run. John Stonard again planned and led the route through North Warwickshire and Staffordshire B roads and country lanes. (Thanks John).

Despite road works and a minor hitch with Dave’s speed twin we all arrived safely to see the sight and smell of steam, soot, smoke and coaldust as these machines of “days gone buy” trundled around the site. The sun stayed shining and a great day was had by all.

23rd June Meriden Motorcycle Megaride..Arranged by Neville for the Meriden Rotarians with all proceeds going to Charity.

Despite the inclement weather over 30 bikes were on the branch stand and many other riders came from all over the area to support these good causes. There were various stalls and stands and a great young band.John Young was also there on his newly purchased trident sidecar combo. Still trying to get used to it!

Next meeting will be the festival of a 1000 bikes  on the 12th-14th July at Mallory where we will have the Branch Stand in attendance.

On a rather sad note I have to report the passing of Brian Hudson. He was an active and very well liked member of the club turning out regularly on his Bonnie up until his stroke about a year ago. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends at the club.

Ride safe

Derek
