Meriden Branch Report March 2022

The first ride in of the year was held in March to mark the anniversary of the death of motorcycle racing legend Mike Hailwood. The run was led, as ever, by Keith. He opted for a change of starting location and therefore a different route. 22 riders met at the ever popular Touch down Cafe at Wellesbourne airfield and were led along a scenic route encompassing A, B, C and unclassified ‘green lanes’. The destination was Tanworth in Arden. A (usually) quiet and pretty little village. The Bell pub served hot drinks to all, paid for by the branch!

The next scheduled event after publication of Nacelle is the Rugby Bikefest on 22nd May, followed, the next Sunday, by the Wings and Wheels Event at the glider club on Bidford on Avon airfield. See the website or emails nearer the event for more details.

With the clocks going forward and the evening light lengthening we encourage more members to arrive on bikes at our Meriden HQ, park on the top car park and admire the other polished machines of which there are 20 – 30 on an average Monday evening. (all makes welcome).

Looking further forward we will have a stand at various events and always need bikes to populate the area. So even if you are not able to attend meetings/events very often we are always happy for you to display a bike when you can.

We welcome new members Philip Baker and Alan Blunt.
