Meriden Branch Report April 2022

The annual autojumble event held at the H.o.E. club saw both buyers and sellers being reasonably happy with the occasion. It was also attended by Clive Humphries and Gerry Boland who have both had health issues. Good to see them at an event again.

Another usually annual event was held this year after a break due to Covid was the Easter egg run to the Acorn Children's hospice in Birmingham. Generous members plus a donation from branch funds pushed the total collected to over £800. A convoy of over a dozen members rode over on Easter Sunday to hand it over. The staff were well pleased with our effort. Unfortunately due to a Covid outbreak the usual meeting with the children was not possible.

On Mayday a mystery Sunday afternoon run was lead by Keith. He took 4 members from the Wellesbourne Touchdown Cafe along a variety of roads and green lanes ending up at Bidford on Avon Flying club. The weather was not too good but the ride was enjoyed nevertheless.

The first event after publication of this journal is likely to be the ’Wings and Wheels’ event at Bidford on Avon airfield. See our website for all events.

Membership seems to be rising following the relaxation of the Covid rules and so we welcome 5 new members: Howard MacHell, John Parrott, Nicholas Bentley, Paul Morris and Ian Chattaway. We would love to meet you at a club night or an event.
