Meriden Branch Report March 2025

Last month was fairly quiet for us as a branch but quite a few informal gatherings. Our only event was a good one. Bob Wisdom had been telling us about a couple of DVD’s he had featuring the British Armies excellent motorcycle display team ‘The White Helmets’. So we arranged a Monday film night. With the assistance of the Heart of England Club’s manager we used the big screen in the function room with its professional equipment. Around 30 members enjoyed 2 films, each 25 minutes long showing firstly the training of a new batch of would be team members being put through 2 weeks “of hell” to whittle the 30 down to a dozen or so. Some funny bits for us, but not so funny for them!

The second film, also shot in 1986, showed the final training and travelling around Europe putting on displays. Both very entertaining. Bob is proposing to put on another film night in the Autumn/Winter.

I invited both TOMCC members and VMCC members to join me on a run to commemorate the untimely death of Mike Hailwood “the greatest motorcycle racer ever” However various factors resulted in a disappointing turnout. I was joined at the drive entrance to the Umberslade Estate, where there is a good cafe, by two TOMCC members John and Bob. After refreshments we rode into Tanworth and visited the great man’s grave.

We have no new members to report.
