Meriden Branch Report November 2018

Some of our members visited the NMM open day which is to be expected as it's on our doorstep. The jumble was disappointing but I am sure the other busy attractions made up for it.

We were joined once again by Birmingham and Wolves members on the club stand at the NEC Classic Vehicle Show. Good to see so many members still willing to show their bikes despite the bike section getting smaller each year. Thanks to all who helped and attended.

On 16th we joined the Triumph TR Club, Coventry RBL, Friends of London Road Cemetery and descendants of the fallen, at the re-dedication of the monument that was erected to commemorate the 66 Triumph Gloria workers who were killed in action during WW1. It was paid for by Siegfried Bettmann in 1921. Recently restored it looked a treat on a nice sunny day. The restoration was funded by the Memorials Trust, the TR Club and Friends of the Cemetery who took five years to bring it all together. The reverend Woo officiated and the ceremony concluded with the last post.

The following day Shirley and I helped on the club stand at Motorcycle Live as family problems left them short handed, we were then collared for more duties! Is it a sign of the times that the show appears less busy than in the past?

Lastly a warm welcome to new members Neil Beckett, Michael Kenny, Adrian Shand, Jill Withey and  Anthony Evans.

Happy Christmas to all, Ian
