Branch Report - March 2012

If I’m honest I thought I was going to be in for a boring night on 5th March when John Young came to our club to give us a talk about his adventures on the Iron Butt Rally (as published in Nacelle) but to my surprise, it turned into a very amusing and interesting night. On behalf of all those who attended, thanks very much John, your story telling and slide show made it a great night to remember.

(P.S. I think he must be barking mad to put himself through all that).      By Kazzie

Mods n Rockers Run (18/03/2012) On a mucky, misty March morning we set off on bikes & scooters from the start point at Coventry to meet up with more of the same at Long Itchington. From there we had a ride-out to a biker friendly pub ‘The George’ at Kilsby, just off the A5 south east of Rugby. Two big car parks and a function room for a nice hot cuppa and a natter made for a good start to the season, apart from the weather.

The scooters were quite a bit slower than the bikes so Steve had a good chance to continue to run-in his TRIBSA that he had recently finished building. (He was still faster than the scooters - nice one Steve!). Approximately 50-60 scooters and 25-30 bikes went on the run, about 15 from Meriden Branch. Thanks to all those who made the effort on a rather cold day and thanks to Paul and friends from the All or Nothing Scooter Club for arranging this run.     By Keith Snell.

Also on 18th March some members attended the final’ Ride of Respect’ through Wootton Bassett. (It was cold enough to freeze some bits off, but a very moving experience).

22nd March saw the launch of the new Triumph Explorer. Many Meriden members attended at Pure Triumph, Birmingham and a few went to Performance Triumph, Stratford-upon-Avon.

25th March Mike Hailwood memorial run was very well attended by members and it was a beautiful warm day. Thanks Keith for organising and leading!

Finally, a warm welcome to our new members:
