Meriden Branch Report August 2019

Our major event of the past month was the “Bring It Home” rally. This annual gathering is held at a Rugby club ground adjoining the old Meriden Triumph site. About 70 members attended the 3 days, mostly camping and enjoying good weather. Unfortunately Dave from Bexley had an accident on his way to the rally and was taken to hospital. We hope he made a speedy recovery. The Friday evening quiz was very popular thanks to Shirley. On Saturday morning we held a 70 mile round trip to ‘Caffeine and Machine’ a very popular country pub revamped with a motoring theme. 18 of us qualified for the 70th anniversary certificates.

The annual Warwick Show saw 9 members on Triumphs and one on a Royal Enfield. An enjoyable event.

We were asked to provide classic Triumphs at a local Care home open day in August. 5 of us arrived in fairly inclement weather but enjoyed a couple of hours talking to staff and residents about the range of bikes we displayed. The hotdogs and hot drinks went down well.

Events to look forward to include the Classic Motor Show at the N.E.C. (see advert in this journal) . Our Xmas meal is being held once again at the Toby Inn on the A45 Stonebridge Island, provisionally on Friday 13 December. Always very popular so book early!

New members this month are Kevin Gobey, Philip Whitehead, Chris Gubbey, Julian Kaye and Mark Warner.
