Meriden Branch Report August 2024

Our ‘Bring it home’ rally in early August was well attended. The weather stayed reasonably dry and an enjoyable weekend was had by all. Special thanks to Bob Smith and Steve Malin for their considerable input.

The Big Branch Bash was attended by several members who had a thoroughly good time.

Some months ago we were invited by the steward of the social club we use as our headquarters to sponsor the lounge we meet in every Monday evening. In return for paying for its refurbishment we could name the room and decorate it with Triumph related items. So since then we have collected photos, posters, signs, parts of bikes etc to make it really Triumph orientated.

To officially open the room we invited Triumph legend Norman Hyde to come on a Sunday afternoon to do the honours. After some last minute decorating and arranging banners and signs around the site the members arrived in a constant stream. By the time that Norman arrived at around 1.30pm a crowd of around 50 to 60 were awaiting the ceremony.

He was introduced by John Ison and regaled the attentive crowd with a few stories about the former factory just up the road. Once the blue ribbon was cut we entered the lounge, viewed the memorabilia and tucked in to Pulled pork batches (cobs) and chips. The event was viewed as a success...and the rain stayed away.

We welcome new members Rich York, Jeff Norrie, Dave Palmer. Howard MacHell rejoined.
