Meriden Branch Report September 2024

The main event to report on briefly is the official opening of our Triumph themed lounge at our HQ, The Heart of England Social Club in Meriden. After a last minute flurry of activity we were ready. Around 50 -60 people witnessed the ribbon cutting after Norman Hyde had spoken for a few minutes in the sunshine. More in an article soon to be in Nacelle.

The Concorde Rally had just John Nelson to represent the branch, unlike previous years. A few other members attended the Border Bike Show near Cleobury Mortimer.

Somerset Trifest was slightly better represented as 8 members attended and seemed to have enjoyed it despite mixed weather. Whilst there Ian rode off to do 2 landmark challenges in the area. Terry had a mixed weekend when he inadvertently put diesel in his tank and arrived courtesy of the AA. But then he won the award for the best pre 90’s bike. I believe he got home ok on the bike.

Bob Wisdom, a longstanding member had a fright on the way home from the bike club recently when another car overtook on a country lane and hit him head on. Luckily? He only suffered cracked ribs and a nervous reluctance to get back behind the wheel or ride.

The N.E.C. Classic Vehicle Show is fast approaching and we still need bikes on our large stand area. So please get in touch and get free entry tickets. See our flyer or website.
