Meriden Branch Report March 2019

Spring looks like its arrived as I write this report so our first official run of the year , on the 24th March, was blessed with bright sunshine. This was the annual Mike Hailwood memorial run to mark his tragic death and that of his 9 year old daughter in a car crash near his home at Tanworth- in -Arden, south Warwickshire. 27 bikes set off from our Meriden hq. on a 30+ mile scenic run to his home village where coffee was served in the pub after a chilly run. The graveyard was just yards away, so most of us visited his grave overlooking open countryside.

In the past year various charity events enabled our section to make these donations: Macular Society £601, Brain Tumour Charity £280, Air Ambulance £382 and Myton Hospice £161. We also have an annual Easter Egg run to the Acorn Hospice in Birmingham where we take donated money and gifts.

Upcoming Meriden branch events are listed on our website. All members and prospective members are very welcome to attend. One member, Dave Downes, who only attended club events for 18 months before returning to Canada was so impressed with us that he bought a round of drinks for the 30 odd attendees of last months A.G.M!

This month we welcome 3 new members : David Whitehead, Colin McQuistan, and Adam Stone.
